The café is renowned for its expertly crafted beverages, including a tantalizing selection of Italian Sodas like the refreshing Strawberry and Mango varieties, each priced at just CA$6.75. These bubbly concoctions are the perfect thirst quenchers—imagine a sparkling drink that dances on your palate, making you smile with each sip. For those preferring something a bit richer, the Smoothies & Slush menu offers delightful choices such as the Uji Matcha Smoothie and the decadent Oreo Smoothie at around CA$7.75 to CA$8.25, which promise to leave a lasting impression.

On the food front, Light Cafe shines with its eclectic menu that features a hint of Taiwanese comfort food, exemplified by popular picks like their renowned crab sandwich with dill. The Light Café sits on one of my favourite Toronto streets for daytime dining and coffee-- Baldwin. There’s a small outdoor patio with just a couple of tables, and while we were initially seated outside, the staff were kind enough to move us indoors since it was a bit chilly out. I had the crab sandwich with dill, one of their popular picks. It was not with fresh crab, but still really tasty and satisfying for a casual brunch. We also shared the chocolate pancake dish which has 25 mini chocolate pancakes, perfect for sharing (and honestly, pretty adorable). It’s a cute, relaxed spot for a Sunday brunch. The line was short and moved quickly; we were seated in about 30 minutes.

This place is popular for a reason. Amazing food and very filling. Lots of variety as well. The decor is very inviting and cozy however can be a bit loud if you go at peak hours. Definitely get a reservation beforehand!

the pork cheese katsu sandwich was kind of disappointing, but everything else was yummy. the waffle fries was fried EXTREMELY crispy and were hot and lightly seasoned. the sandwich took quite a long time to come out (even though everyone else’s dishes came out wayyy before???) and i found that it wasn’t as hot and juicy as i’d expected. the toast was thin and toasted crisply — as opposed to the thick fluffy ones at ohiru, which i prefer — it felt a little bit “cheap”. the katsu had a crispy breading, but otherwise it wasn’t very warm or flavourful. there was lots of crunchy tangy cold cabbage and refreshing tomato, and i’d say most of the flavourful came from the thick, melted cheese. it probably could’ve used more sauce. the sandwiches are not as large as they look in the photos as well. compared to the sandwich, i found the lobster croissant much better. the lobster filling was cold, tender, juicy, and fragrant, with a strong lemon-dill taste. the croissant was really soft, buttery, and perfectly flaky. the mini ube pancakes were a nice treat, but they also weren’t anything crazy good. they were warm, thick, dense, and didn’t have a strong ube flavour? the whipped cream on the side had a sweeter, subtle yammy taste though, and the ice cream on the side was stretchy and cold and sweet.

Visited Light Cafe around noon and was pleasantly surprised by the short wait time — got seated about 20-30 minutes after adding my name to the list. The wait was definitely worth it. The café has a really cute and cozy ambience inside, perfect for a casual brunch or catching up with friends. As for the food, it was great — fresh, flavorful, and nicely presented. Overall, a lovely spot with good vibes and even better food. Would happily return

Amazing place for lunch dates. Great food and service with wide variety of options. No reservations though. Portions are enough. You pay for take out boxes and bags

Cute cafe for brunch! I like how you get a little bit of everything on one plate. Sandwiches are good too but I don’t recommend the sweet potato fries since some of the thicker pieces were undercooked. Better to stick with tater tots or waffle fries.

Been to Lake Café twice already! I really like how their menu has such a good variety, lots of creative food combinations, brunch options, and desserts. The presentation is always super aesthetic.Taste-wise, everything’s pretty good, though I wouldn’t say it’s amazing. The quality and price are fair overall. The dessert we had was definitely a highlight, really delicious! The space is nice and cozy too. If you plan to go, I’d recommend going early since there’s usually quite a long line, depending on the day and time you visit.
